Chemical Process Operations Specialist

About the Role
Our client is seeking a Chemical Process Operations Specialist to support chemical manufacturing operations for products used globally across several industries. This role is hands-on in an outdoor chemical plant environment, working closely with process, product, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
You’ll be part of a small, tight-knit operations team, directly supporting the manufacturing process through monitoring, troubleshooting, and equipment adjustments while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor manufacturing process equipment (holding tanks, distillation columns, pumps, piping, control systems, and lab equipment).
- Gather, log, and analyze production data to ensure product quality and volume targets are met.
- Use Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and environmental analysis tools to maintain compliance and safety.
- Conduct real-time troubleshooting and corrective actions following change management protocols.
- Communicate effectively with interdepartmental teams to relay production status and coordinate adjustments.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying trends, inefficiencies, or equipment issues.
- Take ownership during off-shifts when supervisors are not on site, demonstrating reliability and resourcefulness.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in process operations, manufacturing, or related industry.
- Experience using SOPs and process/environmental monitoring tools.
- Demonstrated ability to log, analyze, and act on production data.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, machinery, and process systems.
- Safety-focused mindset with attention to detail and discipline.
Preferred:
- Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Manufacturing, or Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in regulated environments (water/wastewater, environmental, food & drug, or hazardous materials).
- Familiarity with process control systems and data analysis.
- Ability to multitask in complex operational environments while taking initiative.

- Easily distracted, especially in environments requiring monitoring of multiple systems.
- Complacency or inattentiveness during operations.
Schedule
- “Rolling 4s” schedule:
- 4 days on
- 4 days on call
- 4 nights
- 4 days off
- 24/7/365 operation.
- Shifts start at 4 AM or 4 PM .
