Central Plumbing, Heating, Excavation (Central) is a respected contractor that performs projects throughout Montana. We are a full-service commercial contractor for plumbing, HVAC, and excavation. We are looking for a Commercial Fleet / Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team in Great Falls, MT. Hourly Pay Range: $27-$40 DOE

JOB OBJECTIVE

Qualified candidates must have a comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment. Be able to perform a variety of work associated with the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines, DOT trucks, and trailers. Have a proven ability to fabricate specialized parts and effectively troubleshoot. Ability to understand system design and manufacturer requirements is necessary.

This position is responsible for:

  • performing oil changes and other maintenance on heavy equipment, DOT trucks / trailers, and pickups

  • maintain service records

  • perform DOT annual inspections

  • communicate with company personnel and vendors via written correspondence, phone, or in-person to service their daily needs

  • perform data entry tasks and be responsible for the accurate tracking of purchases, equipment, maintenance records, e-mails, and other related tasks.

This position will report to the General Superintendent/Fleet Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED

Applicant must have the ability to obtain a valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with no restrictions, a tank endorsement, and a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC). Hazmat endorsement is a plus

Individual must be able to perform DOT annual inspections

Personal tools are a plus

Applicant must be able to obtain forklift certification after hire

Individual must be able to multitask, have data entry and data tracking skills, and ability to communicate effectively

This position will require the individual to work outdoors at times and will include some travel

Compliance with our drug free work-place policy

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

No less than four years of experience in diesel heavy equipment and light duty vehicle repair and maintenance
