- Reports to a very impressive Ivy League CEO, who has a wealth of experience as an investor/advisor in the start-up space

- Base pay in the 150k region

- Outstanding work-life balance (Mostly busy at month end, otherwise weekly hours close to 40)

Per the CEO, this is what he is looking for:

- A seasoned, proven controller with deep operational accounting experience and comfort operating in a venture-backed, startup environment

- A steward of the company's cash - billing/invoicing/working capital/payroll/vendors

- Someone who knows how to build/revamp scalable systems and processes (including implementing relevant accounting software as necessary) to create a proper foundation for growth

- A true leader who can own the accounting function, is comfortable with finance, and is accountable to the Board of Directors.

Support Staff: Part-time HR Admin to run payroll. Part-time admin to assist with accounting/finance activities.

• 8-10 years of work experience, CPA preferred, Big-4 Accounting experience
• Prior success as a full-time and/or interim controller for a PE/VC-backed company
• Strong financial acumen and deep familiarity with financial statements, financial reporting, GAAP, and principles of Corporate Finance
• Expert level knowledge/skills in Finance and Accounting, financial modeling skills, Excel and Google Slides, accounting software/general ledgers/journal entries/trial balances
• Ability to own, measure, and improve key business metrics (e.g. AR/AP DSO, gross margins, EBITDA margins)
• Experience leading a month-end close process (from booking JEs to Reporting)
• Software Experience a plus, Sage Intacct (GL), Bill.com, Expensify, Metabase, Coupa, Stripe

Key Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process.
• Own the board reporting process, including monthly and quarterly board decks/memos, and requisite analysis.
• Manage the company’s working capital cycle: optimize client payment terms, improve the collection process, standardize vendor payments, and administer the A/R factoring process. Ensure invoicing of clients and payment to talent is timely and accurate.
• Own the year-end budgeting process
• Serve as key liaison for relationships in Banking, Insurance, and Tax
• Review payroll (payroll is handled by the HR admin)
• Build and maintain the company’s financial model to improve revenue visibility, optimize burn rate/runway, and plan for capital raises.
• Perform various ad-hoc financial analyses, including but not limited to CAC/LTV, churn, and sales/marketing forecasting.
• Contribute to equity and debt capital raise processes.
