Harold Washington College- College Work Study Student- Archivist of The Herald Join to apply for the Harold Washington College- College Work Study Student- Archivist of The Herald role at City Colleges of Chicago Position Overview This is a part-time, internship-level position within the English, Speech, Theatre, and Journalism Department at Harold Washington Campus, City Colleges of Chicago. The role involves archiving and digitizing issues of The Herald newspaper, supporting the college's archival efforts, and collaborating with librarians. Essential Duties Archive and preserve old issues of The Herald. Consult with college librarians regarding previous archival efforts. Design and implement a system for digitizing The Herald. Perform other related archiving duties as needed. Qualifications Eligibility Requirements Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the U.S. Actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours of credit or pre-credit classes. Pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate. Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester students). In good academic standing with no restrictions. Not currently employed full or part-time by City Colleges of Chicago. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or actively pursuing a GED. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and data entry. Excellent verbal communication skills. Strong math and counting skills. Excellent customer service skills. Attention to detail. Ability to promote a positive image and adhere to service standards. Work Schedule Flexible hours, primarily Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 2 pm to 5 pm, with negotiable times. Additional Information This position is an employment-at-will, part-time internship, with opportunities to gain experience in archiving, digitization, and library sciences.
