Base pay range
$150.00/hr - $200.00/hr
A well-established and growing hedge fund is seeking an Interim CFO to support its finance leadership during a period of growth and increasing complexity. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the executive team, with broad responsibility across fund-level and management company finance.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in fund-level operations and controls, strong treasury and margin management skills, and the ability to optimize financial processes in a trading-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and enhance fund-level accounting, financial reporting, treasury operations, and margin management processes
- Manage management company finance, including budgeting, tax, and compliance oversight
- Drive P&L reporting and trade capture processes in coordination with middle office and trading teams
- Own relationships with external service providers including fund administrators, auditors, and banking partners
- Support the ongoing buildout of data infrastructure and finance systems to enable scale and improved decision-making
- Contribute to strategic finance initiatives and investor reporting requirements
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a CFO or senior fund finance leader at a direct trading hedge fund (global macro, multi-strategy, commodities, or similar)
- Strong understanding of treasury, margin, counterparty risk, and P&L processes in a trading environment
- Experience managing both fund-level and management company financial operations
- Proven ability to lead finance function buildouts and process improvements
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial hedge fund environment
- Energy/commodities experience is a plus but not required
- Location: Houston. *must be local to Houston. this wont work for someone that needs to travel
- Structure: W2 hourly consulting engagement ($150–200/hr target range)
- Timeline: Immediate need; candidates must be available to start promptly
