Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), a California legal news service, seeks a freelance reporter in Sacramento to cover new and developing California legislation for an audience of practicing attorneys in the state. The reporter in this role will write 3-4 short news stories per week on this beat, and longer enterprise stories on a schedule to be developed with CEB’s managing editor.

The successful candidate will have strong news reporting and writing skills, and will be able to pitch and execute compelling story ideas for a sophisticated legal audience.

Qualifications:

  • News reporting experience
  • Ability to work on deadline
  • Ability to both receive assignments and generate story ideas
  • Ability to develop and retain sources in the California State Capitol
  • Strong writing skills
  • Legal reporting experience or legal background a plus

Location: Remote in Sacramento
