Job Title: Senior Hydrogeologist
Location: Reston, VA
Duration: 12 months (contract-to-possible perm conversion)
Pay Rate: $60-$77/hr
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join our team in Reston, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrogeology and related geosciences, with proven experience in groundwater modeling, field investigations, and technical reporting. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support a variety of engineering and environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydrogeological investigations using standard industry practices and coordinate inputs from related disciplines such as geology, hydrology, and engineering.
- Develop and refine conceptual site models based on hydrogeological data.
- Apply numerical groundwater flow models using industry-standard software (e.g., MODFLOW) to support engineering design, environmental analysis, and safety assessments.
- Participate in field activities including site characterization, monitoring well installation, aquifer testing, and groundwater sampling.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Review geotechnical reports submitted by subcontractors and provide technical comments and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- M.S. degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or a related geoscience field with at least 8 years of progressive experience; or
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in hydrogeological modeling and interpretation tools, including but not limited to: MODFLOW, Aqtesolv, Leapfrog, and OpenGround.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other data analysis or visualization software relevant to geological studies.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel and work at project sites for extended periods as needed.
- Sound judgment, initiative, and a strong foundation in geology and engineering principles.
- Familiarity with engineering deliverables such as specifications, drawings, and material requisitions, as well as construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
- Understanding of interdisciplinary project workflows and coordination between departments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and effectively.
