Job Title
Forklift/ Skid Steer Operator

Location
Byron Center, MI

Pay:

  • 1st Shift - $18.50+/hr dependent upon experience


Shift:
1st 4:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday- Thursday with possible overtime on Fridays

Job Summary:

As a Forklift/ Skid Steer candidate you will safely operate equipment to assist the paper processing team. This includes safely operating forklifts and skid steers alike. Candidates must be prepared to work in a very dusty environment and be open to assisting in manual handling tasks up to 50 pounds as needed. Qualified candidates will have a clean operating record, 2-3 years of operating experience and be open to training to be certified with the company.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift to move materials and products throughout the facility
  • Load and unload materials and products from trucks, trailers, and containers
  • Utilize a Skid Steer with attachments to shred paper materials, transport, and maneuver safely
  • Transport materials and products to and from production areas, warehouses, and shipping docks
  • Stack and store materials and products in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the forklift to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Collaborate with other warehouse staff to achieve efficient and safe warehouse operations
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Operate machinery and equipment, such as conveyor belts, packaging machines, and material handling equipment
  • Assemble products, including cat litter and small animal bedding, and lawn and garden products

Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • 1-2 years of experience safely operating a forklift / hilo
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery and equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Must be able to work in a very dusty environment without issue

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience utilizing a skid steer
  • Quality control certification
  • Basic math skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
