Job Description
This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to serve two distinct classrooms for the 2025-2026 school year in Bayboro, NC. These full-time, onsite contract positions support students with significant needs in self-contained and inclusion settings at the elementary and high school levels.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading a self-contained adaptive classroom for grades K-3, with a caseload of 7 students who are autistic and nonverbal with intensive needs
- Collaborating with at least two teaching assistants in the adaptive classroom to support individualized instruction
- Managing an inclusion classroom for grades 9-12, with a daily caseload ranging approximately from 15 up to 37 students
- Implementing tailored educational plans and strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Ensuring compliance with applicable special education regulations and standards
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Special Education certification is preferred; adaptive certification is ideal though candidates with other certifications or out-of-state licenses will also be considered
- Experience working with autism spectrum disorder and nonverbal students at the elementary and secondary levels
- Ability to manage a high caseload in an inclusion classroom
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to working full-time onsite during school hours
This position runs from August 18 through May 22, with work hours from 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM.
