APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in Dearborn, MI looking to add a Surgery Scheduler to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be coordinating and scheduling all surgical procedures for patients in an efficient and timely manner. Keep reading for more details!

What your day will look like:
- Schedule surgeries and pre-operative appointments according to physician availability and patient needs.
- Coordinate with hospitals, surgical centers, anesthesiologists, and other providers to ensure availability of required resources and personnel.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations or pre-certifications.
- Provide patients with clear instructions regarding surgical preparation, arrival times, and post-operative care.
- Collect and review all necessary documentation including lab results, clearances, consent forms, and medical histories.
- Maintain accurate records of scheduled surgeries and update electronic medical records (EMR) accordingly.
- Communicate any scheduling changes or updates promptly to all relevant parties.
- Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts or issues as they arise.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting, preferably in surgical scheduling or a related role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
- Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
