Location : Menlo park, CA(Hybrid)

Pay Rate : $62.75/hr,W2

Contract : 12 Months

Job Description:

We are looking for a Research Assistant to help support qualitative and quantitative research projects happening at Tech Giant focused on generative AI.

The research assistant will perform such tasks as moderating sessions, coding open-ended survey data, literature reviews, analyzing interview transcripts, and assisting with a range of qualitative and quantitative studies. The right candidates will have strong attention to detail, be excellent communicators, and have a passion for research.

This is a paid position with the opportunity to learn from experienced researchers and grow your career as a researcher.

Job Responsibilities:

• Moderate remote and in-person research sessions

• Conduct searches and research reviews

• Read and process academic articles and research reports

• Qualitatively code various materials (e.g., articles, open-ended responses)

• Help summarize major findings (preferred: utilization of programming or statistical skills to help summarize findings)

• Assist in survey writing, data collection, data cleaning, and analysis

• Support researchers and prepare materials as needed for research project purposes

Skills :

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and manage one's time

• Knowledge of project management methodologies and project tracking is a plus

• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and to interpret and communicate research findings and insights

• Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred experience:

• Experience in an academic research lab

• Reading and reviewing academic publications and writing literature reviews

• Coding open-ended survey data

• Cleaning survey data

• Piloting surveys and/or cognitive testing

• Coding interview transcripts

• Assisting with running social science lab studies

• Basic programming and/or statistical skills

Education :

• B.A. / B.S. in psychology, sociology, communication, linguistics, political science, science and technology studies, HCI, or related field

Must-Have Skills:

  • Candidate needs to be strong in Quantitative Research: high proficiency in Python or R, transferring data sets and analyzing, SQL, and also strong in Qualitative research. SQL and Python Proficiency: Be able to remove data, write a script to clean data, cleaning and transforming when needed
  • Positive can-do attitude, has worked on a research project or managed one. Or journalism research experience. Experience in a academic research lab
  • Proactive/ inquisitive, give additional ideas to improve process/ ask questions to push and understand/ make connections/ using their own perspective

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Qualitative Researcher: Coding open-ended survey data, coding interview data, reviewing interview data. Quantitative: Written a survey and analyzed Data
  • Lab Experience is critical for qualitative experience

Interviews:(2-3 Rounds)

  • 1 st round with CWAM for technical and experience
  • 2 nd round for Technical Skills, literature review, qualitative coding, content analysis, dependent variables
  • 3 rd for extra signal
