Position: Family Case Manager Newcomer

Salary: $50,000-53,000

About the Job:

  • Assist immigrant individuals and families adjust to life in a new country, secure basic resources and arrange support for legal matters, such as documentation.
  • Assess legal needs and connect clients with legal services.
  • Serve as a liaison between ICE, USCIS and Immigration court.
  • Check case status to ensure clients' court dates and ICE checkpoints are up to date.
  • Receive and assess client referrals: interview clients to determine their need for assistance.
  • Serve as a liaison to develop, monitor, and adjust family service plans and individualized client services: working under the general supervision of a program supervisor, independently arrange the sequence of work, obtain necessary information and data, select appropriate methods and procedures, and vary these as necessary to address different case situations.
  • Provide general client services and case management: offer significant support and guidance, as well as service assistance, which directly impacts the social, physical and/or economic well-being of the clients served and, at times, their families/significant others.

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Family Case Manager Newcomer include but are not limited to:

  • Accept referrals for social services and provide feedback on referrals.
  • Assist clients to assess their situation, define their problems, and identify acceptable courses of action by availing themselves of recommended community services.
  • Complete initial intakes/assessments.
  • Analyze the subjects or issues involved in each assignment or case to develop family service plans for clients families.
  • Determine intervention strategy and appropriate actions utilizing clients individual needs.
  • Connect clients to outside service providers and resources.
  • Provide case management and monitoring services to clients.
  • Make follow-through contacts with clients and other agencies to ensure that needed services have been provided.
  • Prepare and update case records/client status reports.
  • Ensure recordkeeping-intakes/family needs assessments; family service plans, contact notes, electronic database entry.
  • Keep abreast of changes to and the issuance of new rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to program eligibility and service delivery.
  • Review programmatic and personal documents, create and maintain case notes and records, draft brief memos and letters, and perform related functions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in human services. Comparable experience may be considered as equivalent for satisfying educational requirement(s).
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations; and skilled at collaborating with multiple agencies.
